A great ADSIAN: a thorough-bred engineer

“The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential, these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.”

Confucius

The beauty of Arewa is enmeshed in the simplicity of its greats. Strewn across the canvass of its towering icons is a radiant emblem of distinction, prototypical of a people, whose place in history is legendary. That is the pride of Arewa: a collection of people, bursting at the seams with attainments that compete with the best anywhere in the world. In that ilk of the great, is a Kaduna born knowledge addict, Engr. Abdullahi Hussaini. A man, whose love for learning and the safety of our ecology, has led him to bag over 8 degrees.

As a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a registered Mechanical Engineer with Council for the regulation of Engineering Practice in Nigeria (COREN), member of the Society of Professional Disaster Risk Managers of Nigeria, member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chattered) and a member of the Institute of Management Consultants, his breath-taking strides have left in his trails, an excellence typical of a man committed to bettering the lot of mankind.

Beginning his humble foray into engineering from Kaduna Polytechnic, Kaduna and Federal University of Technology, Minna, who would have imagined, that a couple of decades down the line, he would be in the class of some of northern Nigeria’s finest emerging engineers? His interest in Climate Change, Environmental Management, Disaster Management and Safety Management System; has stood him out as a masterpiece and a capstone in the engineering profession.

With five Postgraduate Diplomas (PGD) in Computer Science, Environmental Management, Management, Energy Engineering, and International Relations and Diplomacy, deepened with another five MSc. Degrees in Environmental Management, Development Studies, Climate Change and Natural Resource Management, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Energy Management; there is no gainsaying the fact that a lot runs through the mind of this custodian of engineering knowledge: a manager of man’s ecology and an impeccable engineer of our ecosystem’s energy turfs. He shines through the pages of time as the great Archimedes of our age and time. Still to his ingenious antecedents is his current attempt to tidy up a PhD in Disaster Management from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

As a thorough-bred engineer, his vintage services at the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Aviation, could be the reason he is the head, Mechanical and Safety Unit. He is a cosmopolitan Nigerian, who has visited every state in the country, drawing from each visit, the beauty of our multicultural entity.

A couple of years ago, Haj. Khuraira Musa sold ADSI’s idea to him: an initiative focused on the socio-economic development of Arewa in all areas. His instant acceptance of the idea had a lot to do with the fact that the idea communicated what he would have loved to see happen in northern Nigeria. Being a globetrotter, apart from towering the whole of Nigeria, he has travelled to different parts of the world. In some of those countries, he saw first-hand, what a united people could accomplish.

In his own words on WHY ADSI, he says:

“Haj. Khuraira Musa sold the idea of ADSI (as an initiative with the sole aim of the socio-economic development of Arewa in all ramifications) to me when I featured in an online programme she was hosting “the unsung heroes.” I immediately bought the idea and joined ADSI as one of the pioneer members on ADSI’s General Platform. I am happy that ADSI has fared very well in the socio-economic emancipation of Arewans.”

Engr.  Abdullahi Hussaini, inspired by feats some nations have attained across the globe, knew that the only hope of Arewa is in Arewans. This explains why he came on board at the earliest days of ADSI as one of its founding members, eventually leading the Kaduna State Chapter to notable attainments that are in tandem with the vision and mission of ADSI.

As the Kaduna State Coordinator of Arewa Development Support Initiative (ADSI) and the Monitoring and Evaluation Executive overseeing the North West Zone of Nigeria, the distinction of Engr. Hussaini’s delivery is sky-high. Further to that, his track records in the academia, evidenced by a good number of articles published in international and local journals, a plethora of national and international conferences attended, and a long list of local and foreign professional trainings, distinguish him as a unique asset for our development as a region and a nation.

Engr.  Abdullahi Hussaini’s gait in our history as a professional and a committed member of ADSI points to the hopes we have nursed in the last few years. He reminds us, given his exceptional success story that we can as a region. He is one of the many examples of the great minds that ADSI is proud of. He sees and understands what ADSI is all about, and commits his all to making it possible.

You too, as one of the illustrious sons of Arewa, can join us today. With that little financial commitment of N2000 per month from each member of ADSI, lives are being transformed. Be that reason for the smile on the face of someone, desperately in need of a source of livelihood. This is what ADSI is all about.  Join ADSI today.
